TEXT ‘FAMILY LOCATION’ TO 07827 443960 FOR SESSION INFO & PRICES
Time flies and before you know it your babies will have grown up and moved on to pastures new. Before that happens I would like to help you to capture photographs of your family with personality and connection that you will treasure forever. What better way to do this than to get outside into nature and have some family fun! Why bother booking a Professional Photographer when you can take your own family photos? Because it is so important for you to be included in your family images. Your children will appreciate photos of you when they are older as much you appreciate photos of them when they are younger. As your family portrait photographer I will provide you with a gallery of images that are a true reflection of your family as it is now.
If you are an active family or you feel your children would be more comfortable with a relaxed candid outdoor family photo shoot there are plenty of beautiful locations in the countryside surrounding the studio which are included in your session fee. Alternatively you may have a location that has a particular family tie or memory. In which case please give me a call to discuss. Please note there is a location fee for shoots over 3 miles away from the studio, determined by distance and any entrance fees or permits required.
I also offer studio family photo shoots, please click here for details.
Family location photography shoots are £75 which includes your pre-session consultation, (either in studio or over the phone) exclusive shooting time; use of outfits and/or styling advice; full editing of images and a private studio viewing/ordering session. Payment is required to confirm your booking.
Product prices start at £300 for Wall Art and £395 for digital images. Most Clients choose one of my discounted Wall Art & USB collections and spend between £500 to £1,500.
As part of my booking process I will ask some questions about your family and your requirements. Would you like a particular focus on images of the whole family as you are the one always behind the camera? Would you prefer a session just for the children? Do you want a mixture of both? Do you have a dog/s or other pets you would like to include in the shoot? If your children are school age I do offer late afternoon sessions on a Thursday (daylight dependant!) and occasional Saturday afternoon sessions. These sessions are in high demand so please book early if you require your photographs for a particular date.
My family location photography shoots are very relaxed and last about 1 hour, although this is a little flexible if we are on a roll! I will take a few minutes at the beginning of the session to get to know everyone and get a feeling of how the session is going to flow. Golden hour provides the most beautiful light for outdoor photo shoots and if possible I will try to arrange your photo shoot for this time of day. However this isn’t always possible (especially for toddlers in the height of summer when golden hour is 9pm!) and so I will then offer you a morning or afternoon photo shoot. Midday is usually the worst time of day for an outdoor photography shoot but if we can find a shady location I can still capture some great images if that is the only time of day available to us!
What shall I wear?…
Please wear something that you are comfortable wearing and that you will be happy to have hanging on your wall for many years to come! Avoid logos, branding, strong patterns and images, they can be distracting and may look dated in a few years. Think about the season and pick colours that either compliment or contrast. Then try and pick outfits for everyone in the chosen colour palette. You don’t all have to wear the same. Infact I would encourage you not to! Just complimentary outfits. It’s not very easy to change outfits on location, especially for the adults! So to add some variety to your images consider accessories that you can add and take away in different photographs. Hats, scarves, wraps, coats, jackets, cardigans, jumpers, boots and even umbrellas on a rainy day can all add interest to your images, if they compliment your colour scheme.
Hands are also on show albeit not usually close up but please still pay them a little TLC before the session. With regards to hair & make up – play safe and stick to how you would wear it if you were going out somewhere special. Unless you are after a particular look this is probably not the time to experiment with new hairstyles or make up.
What to expect…
I normally start with family photographs and then move onto individual photos to give the younger members of the family time to settle in and relax. However if the little ones come in raring to go then I will gladly go with it and take their portraits while they are ready and willing. Outdoor photo shoots are very fluid and I will “go with the flow” and mood of the moment. Some of the best images are captured on the fly!
I usually recommend bringing wellies which can be worn getting to different locations which can sometimes be muddy. Once at the location you can change into your chosen shoes/boots if you prefer.
And finally, you can expect to have lots of fun! I love outdoor family photo shoots. They are relaxed, natural and most importantly, very enjoyable. I often get feedback that the kids have asked if they can do another photo shoot the next day 😉
